Cross Over The Bridge
According to Wikipedia encyclopedia, the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in Louisiana, more than 23 miles long, is the longest bridge in the United States. It is not the only way across-a boat could sail across or a plane could fly over the lake. To drive around would be twice the distance. So driving across the bridge is the most convenient way. The choice is yours. Another bridge spans the widest chasm in the entire universe: the bridge between a lost, sinful soul and God's gift of eternal life. Many people think they choose one of several different bridges to reach God, such as doing good deeds or trying a famous self improvement effort. Some try faithfully and sincerely following one of many religions. Yet the Bible clearly tells us there is only one bridge that will reach all the way across the gulf caused by our sin, and that is the bridge Jesus provided through His death on the cross. When we place our faith in His sacrifice as the only acceptable payment for our sin, not merely following His example or moral teaching, we cross the only bridge that reaches to God. No one is excluded from using it; it is available to anyone who trusts in Jesus alone for their salvation. It is not a toll bridge, because Jesus paid the price on the cross.
