Value Of Praise

The Value of Praise

By Pastor David Hallam

Praise: admiration, applaud, glorify, extol. Psalms 89:15. "Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O Lord, in the light of Your countenance." New King James version.

In looking at the referenced scripture we see the word "blessed" carries the meaning of happy. That is, happy are the people, or you and I, who know or understand the joyful sound. Yes, there is a joyful sound that we can know, to experience and therefore, live.

The words "joyful sound" has the meaning: advance, acclamation of joy, or a battle cry, jubilee.

Acclamation is an overwhelming affirmative vote by cheers, shouts or applause, rather than by taking a ballot.

We give our "yes" in praise. It is important that we keep the source, Jesus Christ, as the focal point or the "bull's eyes" of our praise. What we are told in scripture is that Jesus is enthroned in the praises of His people. Psalms 22:3. To personalize that, when we are faced with everyday life, the struggles of finances, relationships, job situations, health issues, or even when things are going good, let us learn that there is a joyful sound of praise that we can begin to demonstrate.

Begin to invite Jesus Christ into the situation, begin to thank Him for who He is and what He has done on the cross. Ask Him to bring the joyful sound of His kingdom into the situation. As we learn to invite Him into every situation through praise, we will be blessed with this promise:

Psalms 89:15. "They walk, O Lord, in the light of Your countenance."

Take another step closer to Jesus Christ today by stepping up our praise of Him.
