What I Shared Today

I was asked to share a testimony today. My testimony on what I felt God speaking to me through a time of prayer and fasting from all of last week. We were focusing our fast on our worship time. You see, pastor is concerned because we seem to have become stagnate in our worship. We desire to see the power of the Holy Spirit move. I know for a fact pastor wants to see the Holy Spirit manifest Himself in miraculous ways as He once has under the Open Bible roof. Below is what I said almost word for word....

I must admit when Joyce first asked me if I would speak today I thought, what in the world am I going to say. I wasn't digging in like I should. So I started focusing on and pressing into God and this is what I came up with.

We need a deeper revelation of our Father's love. We should be praying and seeking God for deeper experiences and a deeper relationship always. We need to press into Him until we enter His presence. Everyone here should ask yourself. Where's my passion? Our passion should never fade or grow dim. It should always be growing. Our Heavenly Father created us to praise and worship and commune with Him. He gave us breath and makes our hearts beat....not for us....but for Him alone. We need a deeper passion for His Holy Spirit and the things of God.

I have a cousin in Indiana who's seven year old daughter wrote some lyrics to a song that I'd like to share that with you.

GOD'S LOVE FOR ME

God's love for me is like a flaming fire.
God's love for me is like a roaring ocean.
That's his love for me. That's his love for me.
He protects me from evil. He takes me to
heaven just for believing in Him. Oh,
God's love for me is like a flaming fire.
God's love for me is like a roaring ocean.
That's God's love for me. That's God's
love for me. Almighty God died on a
simple cross not covered in gold or silver.
Just for sinners. Just think an almighty God
died for a sinner like you and me. Oh, God
rescue me. I want to find you. I want to
seek you. I want to see your face oh Lord.
I love you so creator of heaven and earth.
All of evil only you can save me from. I
will devote all my time to you. All of earth
is frightened at the sound of all of your
words. At even the sight of you. This is
God's love for you.

BY SHELBY SORENSEN

It seems to me that this seven year old has a stronger knowledge of our Father's love than most people in church today. We need to be praising His character, His loving, gracious nature. This is the key to worshipping God. We must worship Him for who He is. Praising God for Himself is the heart of worship and it will bring you closer to Him than anything else. (THE END)

It amazes me how God seemed to pour out to me last week. Not all at once and not really noticeable. I had to slow down and discern His presence and His work in what He was showing me. Once Joyce asked me to speak and I asked the Holy Spirit to give me a testimony....things started falling in line. From emails to things I read, books, blogs, devotionals, scriptures and even watching my TV programs. All these things had one thing in common. Everything seemed to deal with praise and worship. Another funny thing. Friday in my daily reading of the Bible I was reading Judges chapter 20 and a few things jumped out at me. I underlined them in my Bible in case I wanted to come back to them for part of my testimony. The funny part is I never went back to those various scriptures but that happened to be the exact chapter that Pastor Joyce Hunsaker preached on today. Can you say Holy Spirit goose bumps?...=)
